The new year brings in new resolutions, time to eat better and do better. If you are being vegan for a month (during the so-called Veganuary) or have been vegan for a while, here’s our top five picks to grab some vegan food.
1. Little Barista

Little Barista is a coffee shop located on Howe Walk in the shopping centre. They offer a wide range of vegan cakes, treats and milk alternatives so you can enjoy your beloved hot (and cold) drinks with none of the guilt. One of our favourites is the coconut hot chocolate and the vegan brownie.
2. Is It Vegan?
Is it Vegan? is a new market stall in Burnley Markets that offers a wide range of vegan and zero-waste products. Not only do they offer vegan sweet treats, but you can buy zero-waste vegan alternatives for your favourite foods, like vegan sausage meal kits and vegan cheeses. We also love the range of vegan and cruelty-free beauty products.
3. Simply Classic Bistro

Simply Classic Bistro located within Shuttleworth Mead offers both a breakfast and lunch menu, they can be also hired in the evenings and weekends for private events, so no matter what the time is you can have delicious vegan food. They offer both vegan and vegetarian dishes that won’t break the bank. They even offer alternatives to your favourite comfort foods. We loved the Moroccan Butternut Squash Tagine.
4. Wilfred’s and Bertram’s Restaurant

Both Wilfred’s and Bertram’s restaurants at Crow Wood offer many vegan alternatives to their popular classics. Bertram’s even offers its own fully vegan menu crafted by its award-winning chefs who won two rosettes in the AA culinary excellence award 2019.
5. Bistro 197

Bistro 197 can be found at Towneley Golf Course, they offer several vegan and vegetarian options on their lunch menu, ranging from pastas and salads to bean burgers and their selection of sides. Burnley Leisure, who run Bistro 197, as well as the 1955 kitchen and the 1855 Bistro, make sure every penny they make at all their hospitality sites gets re-invested into Burnley.
There’s so much selection here in our borough, being vegan has never been so easy!
