Friday 19th November saw the official launch of a brand-new Burnley-based centre for 16-24 year olds. Thrive is a Calico creation which aims to get 16-24 year olds into education and work.
burnley.social is all about promoting some of the amazing opportunities young people have at their feet in our area, so we’re all for this unique new facility and look forward to showcasing some of their successes.
The Friday launch had a variety of Burnley businesses in attendance, such as Veka and Fagan & Whalley, along with some of their hardworking apprentices.
The Mayor of Burnley, Mark Townsend, was also in attendance along with the council leader Councillor Afrasiab Anwar and Burnley MP Antony Higginbotham.
This hub is already empowering young people to reach new heights with a range of resources to connect employers in the borough with local young people looking for employment opportunities. Other support includes help with CVs, interview preparation, finances, language support, mental health support and more.
Thrive works with partners providing a wide range of impartial support to help young people to reach their potential. More than 350 young people have already benefited from working with Thrive and around 100 of those have so far gone on to secure a positive outcome.
Thrive will be working closely with local employers to bring young people of Burnley opportunities such as jobs, apprenticeships, Kickstart placements, volunteering, and will also be supporting young people in schools at job fairs and other events.
If you are between the age of 16-24 and think you would benefit from this amazing service, the Thrive hub is located at the Calico Group building on Centenary Way (next to the bus station). The team can also be contacted via email email@example.com or phone 01282 686313, via the Burnley Together website www.burnleytogether.org.uk or via social media @thriveburnley
